Mini-rants

It's probably my fault, for going to the pit, but still...

1) Daring me to read you fic as the entirety of the summary (to paraphrase, it was something like: "I dare you to read this, prove to me you're not chicken") isn't going to work. Maybe it's some kind of allusion to the contents of the fic, I dunno, but I'm not going to even check.

2) "a certain ..." - can we stop with that? It's not original, it's not funny, and unless you're going for a bait-and-switch (e.g., "Hinata has always liked a certain blonde", and it turns out the blonde is Ino), it's not clever. Heck, it's not clever even then (besides being useless, since you gave FFN the info on who the main characters are). We all know who you're talking about, so can't you use the name?

3) "deskised". ... Seriously? *brains author with a thrown dictionary*

4) WTF, FFN? Why aren't the status/character/wordcount filters working?

Edit: Nevermind number 4, I forgot I installed noscript a couple days back, and didn't have an exception made for FFN *blushes*

Title: When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Lead Actors: Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher, Bruno Kirby
Length: 96 minutes
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Warnings: Swearing, Sex (Rated R in USA)

Summary:
Harry has a theory: men and women cannot be friends, because sex will inevitably get in the way. Over the course of 12 years and 3 encounters, his relationship with Sally will put his theory to the test.

Review:
When Harry Met Sally is one of my favorite movies, hands down. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies, especially with scripts by Nora Ephron and direction by Rob Reiner, and this particular movie is a classic of the genre. Even though it’s twenty years old, it’s still relevant in its discussion of the relationships between men and women.

The basic premise of the movie is Harry’s (Billy Crystal) thesis: men and women can never be friends. He first relates this theory to Sally (Meg Ryan) when, as recent college grads, they carpool across the country to New York City. Sally scoffs, and they settle into a mutual hatred. Fast forward to a few years later and a chance encounter in the airport, ending in an amicable parting. A few years after that, and another random encounter leads to a deep and lasting friendship. However, Harry refuses to give up on his theory, and as their relationship grows, one mistake could prove him right--and end it forever.

As always, I am a sucker for ensemble work and character chemistry. When Harry Met Sally would not be so amazing if not for the on-screen chemistry between Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan (a somewhat unlikely couple) along with the rapport between them and their respective best friends (Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher). The dialogue is snappy and the pacing well done, like most Ephron scripts; there are a million quotable moments including, of course, the infamous 'orgasm in a diner' scene.

If you want an intelligent movie filled with snarky comebacks and sparkage, with a happy ending for a sweet kicker, then When Harry Met Sally is the movie for you.

Correct me if I'm wrong

But since when did Japanese people have first names like 'Sebastian, James or Sally?' Are there really that many people with Western names or are there really that many Western migrants?

PS: From my understanding, the fanfic OCs seem to be Japanese.
PPS: As great a film (I suppose it is), can we quit referencing 'Paranormal Activity' unless it's set in 2009.

Do you just not have anything better to do?

Dear Reviewer/Commentator:

devART Comment Rant - cut for tl;dr )
To sum up: if the very premise of the project offends you, why do you follow it? Do you enjoy getting angry over plot points that don't mesh with your rigid interpretation of canon?

Feel free to keep posting your comments; I think it is healthy to have people with differing opinions commenting on the story, because it shows that our project has caught the attention of a wider base than we had expected. However, I will not respond to any of your comments. I was not even aware of them until my team leader contacted me about your disconcerting communiques, and I don't want to add fuel to your fire. I have advised my team leader to block you from the account if you persist in bothering her.
